I liked Jessica Jones but I don't like Krysten Ritter. She just gets on my nerves for some reason
Eh, It is hard to take her seriously after Bin23 and Breaking Bad. But I think she was a really good casting for the position she plays the damaged character perfectly.

@RojoLoco I really need to just get to Luke Cage. It's been sitting in my queue since its release.
It's a toss-up between Luke Cage and Jessica Jones as to which is my fave... but they are intertwined stories. And Method Man makes a cool cameo in LC.
Jessica Jones has a slight advantage to me. The villain in her show is just perfect.
She is one of my favorite Marvel characters for sure. Because Daredevil is kind of a weenie.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that.
I enjoyed the show overall, but I think he's a bit of a weak "hero". But the sound design in that show was top notch... they really did a great job of simulating the way someone like that would hear things. Made me glad I invested in a decent surround system.
The sound and set designs were phenomenal... and I don't have any background in it. The story, while good in the first season, wasn't up to the same quality of Jessica Jones or Luke Cage.
Agreed. I felt like I finished the show only to fill in the story overlaps amongst the Hell's Kitchen based heroes. And I liked the Punisher angle, his story is better.

Did you see her in those jeans tho? Dayum. I've never seen her in anything else, but I thought she was a good pick for JJ.

I haven't watched the second season of Dare Devil yet. I always liked the Punisher and really wish they had cast Thomas Jane, he was a really good Punisher, even if the movie sucked.

Love Tom Jane but I still think Jon Bernthal nailed it. Oddly enough Jon is married to my friends cousin

Someone posted on imgur that The Adventures of Pete & Pete started hipster culture. I can't think of anything more hipster earlier than it so maybe this dude is right?

I watched it a lot when I was younger. It's a great show but I also watched it back before I knew what a hipster was. They did a lot in that show with an extremely low budget

I'll be hipster long after hipster was cool. That's how hipster I am.

I assure you that hipsters existed long before that show. I'm sure whomever wrote the article you saw is young enough to actually believe that was the first hipster show.... not the first, but I sure wanted to see both those kids beaten and dropped off a bridge holding a large rock, so they were definitely hipsters.

It wasn't a movement like it is today though. What started all of this?

The only reason it is considered a "movement" today is the increased population and existence of faster, more readily available communication methods. Whereas, once upon a time, hipsters were actually somewhat original, now it's just a bunch of millenial puds copying each other's pseudo-originality. Oh, and they all insist on listening to the most obscure music they can find... which means that listening to something you like or that is of any quality doesn't fly. It's only cool if you're the only person that's heard of it, no matter how shitty the band is.

A movement? It's just what we call losers.

And they were called beatniks in the 50s. And that wasn't new just what we had at the time and got recorded well. Karouc and all that.
-
"White Christmas" mocks hipsters in 1956 with the dance number "Choreography" with Danny Kay. So hipsters were even in mass media by that point.
-
Hipster is a worthless term. In actual use it's just a catchall for person whose style of engagement with pop culture I do not like. Also stop derailing the damn watch thread with this nonsense.
I am sad that there is currently no more of The Magicians to watch.
Not sure about the decision to age up the characters makes their totally ridiculous behavior a lot harder to excuse. Probably had to do it because of the outrageous amounts of drug and alcohol being slung about.

I'm ready for the next season of Westworld. That show is fantastic, and the last episode kinda blew stuff up and made me wonder what is to come.

I'm watching the big bang theory.
