Is this the third thread on these? 😉

Or is this a different toy? I'm not super clear which toy was doing this. I have no Internet connected toys.

You don't? What do you call an iPad? or an Amazon tablet? 😛

That logic says that ALL computers are generally toys and using the term "toys" ever is pointless.

My concern about this topic is to be careful of what you give your kids and the "items" that they have, no matter if they are awake or asleep. Otherwise, it might be creepy.

I think, though, that we expect those concerns with full general purpose computers (which includes tablet form factors) but that real toys are the surprise that many people do not think about.

People don't think about their light bulbs or TVs either, but they should!

Right, if they have smart ones (I actually don't know anyone who does for lightbulbs and only a few people with smart TVs.) I love the idea of this stuff being smart, I'm just not seeing any first hand adoption. I agree that they should, but I think the best way to convey that is to not call our normal computers toys, but to recognize that lots of things are connected and need to be managed.

We have 2 smart TV's in the house but haven't set them up on the wifi so they have no access (cause honestly my appletv and amazon fire tv are much better).

This is why I support the Right to Repair. This gives citizens the right to open up their devices and see what is truly going on within them.

I have a Samsung TV, but refuse to leave it connected to the internet because Samsung specifically outsouces the audio recorded by the TV, etc. no thanks. I'll get updates if/when I need one to make something work, beyond that I use my Roku and Amazon TV.
