$2.50/user/mo for screen sharing. That's a bit expensive when Skype is free (but doesn't work, so I get the issue.)

Works fine for me as does Google Hangouts.
Chime feels like, we're Amazon, lets make yet another product.

$15/user/month for glorified chat?
-
Looks like a load of you know what....does not look competitive or worth trying with the other solutions available, you can have up to 25 people on a conference chat for free using Skype.

Depends, can you call me on it? nope, because MS has their accounts all broken. So in reality, it doesn't work for you, it just makes it feel like it works for you.
Danielle thinks it works for her, too, but people with her in their user list see her account broken and have problems contacting her and her account will semi-randomly get deleted and show up wrong with images and details from old accounts she doesn't have any more and she, too, can't get calls to work to some people.
Because the issues with Skype are account based, people often feel that it "works for them" even when they too are experiencing issues.

Yeah, I'm missing the selling points.

"People"? You mean you. No one else. Don't say Gene, because his issues are not isolated to Skype.

I know of lots of people that have been unable to make or receive Skype calls. Danielle included.
And I walked through her seeing that Skype's website shows her account as messed up. Ask her to show you. Your Congo picture is attached to her account. We spent a lot of time making sure that you could never say it was "me" or "my account" that was the issue. She agreed, Skype itself was broken and her account was affected.
-
The account is only seen like that for you. I have no one else that has trouble calling me other than you. I have had 6 new people reach out to me on skype this week (including international people). Not one person had a hard time reaching me or having a with calling me.

We confirmed that that is how Microsoft Skype displays it. We went on the website together so that you could see that it was Microsoft's presentation of it and not possibly anything to do with me. You agreed at the time, you looked at the web page (not in Skype, right from MS' servers... nothing to do with me) that YOUR account was broken and you could not control how it displayed you to the outside world and you have no way to know how many calls to you fail, because they just fail.

But you had conference calls fail last week where Skype wouldn't even add everyone to the call. So call it what you like, but you are affected by it. And it is impossible for it to be me, Skype is centrally controlled and the Skype system cannot add the messages. So the issue is Skype. It's not a user issue, this we know beyond a shadow of a doubt. If you log into the website as me, your account doesn't work to me. That is no more an issue with me than it is with you.

Only you were unable to be added to the call. Only you see an odd avatar for her account. Only you, only you, only you... I guess Skype must be broken.

Danielle saw it too. "Only you" always means the system is broken when there is no "only you" component of it. What "only me" do you think there is that doesn't mean mean that Skype is broken? There is no "me" aspect to Skype. Especially when we are talking about their web page. What you see is what Microsoft themselves project. There is no aspect of "me" involved.
We went through the exercise of showing this to Danielle to ensure that there could be no discussion like this using the "only you" excuse. She agreed, Skype wasn't working.
-
If an "only you" comes up, I think it is Danielle's account that is broken. I only have call issues when she is part of the call.
That's Danielle's account as determined by Microsoft. See if she can update that avatar. That's taken from the website just now.

What website specifically? I was just logged into her skype account from my computer, and it showed the correct picture.

The SKYPE website.

I know, you just proved my point. Her account is not working. The image that Skype has for her is not one that you control.

I read a great line this morning that equated situations like this with playing chess with pigeons. The fact that you seem to be the only person who logs in and sees the wrong picture can indicate whatever you want it to indicate, regardless of the fact that you seem to be the only person asked to try it that comes up with the wrong picture. Several have, and so far, you are the lone user seeing that incorrect image. If that means that Skype is the only common element and we ignore that only you are seeing that, then sure, Skype sucks and everyone needs to trash it and move to something else.
