Interesting Issue with Waze Arrival Notifications

Feel free to move this thread if it is not in the proper category.
Does anyone else use Waze? Since moving to a new job in Dallas with a longer commute, it has come in handy a number of times to get me home / to the office faster than I would have otherwise. But, I like to utilize the Send ETA functionality of the app so that my wife has some idea of what time I will be home. There seems to be an inconsistency in the way arrival notifications are delivered. I can be within 1 mile of the house, and even though I may be stuck in traffic, my wife will get an arrival notification. In theory, she could think I was home and just sitting in the garage when in fact I'm still half a mile away in traffic and won't be there for another 5-10 minutes. Waze seems to send the arrival notifications whenever it decides to but seems to only fire them off if I'm within a mile from home.
Has anyone else experienced this?

@grey does

@MarigabyFrias does, too

I do off and on as well. Seems like the Arrival notification is sent based on geofencing and not on actual GPS location.
I'll use Waze when I'm going to the colo or to someplace that I haven't been before, usually when going to one of our SC meetings.
If you don't take toll roads, then Waze will take you down some pretty adventurous (and sometimes not so good) ways.

I use Waze all the time; every day, really. I've seen what you describe, though my experience is a little different. It seems that it sends the arrival notifications based on anticipated arrival, so +/- 5 minutes of your actual arrival. It's worse on long trips since it will drop the network concoction. and then no notification will be sent despite how it is still running and everything looks OK.
I recommend that you post on their forums and/or research what they have to say there about this. It's probably way more informative than posting here.

I use Waze all the time, even if I am only going to IKEA 5 miles away, because traffic can be drastically different depending on which arterial street you use.
I do not use Arrival alerts though, so no help there.

I love living in a city where that stuff isn't generally needed.

I'm also a Waze user. it! But we don't use the arrival notifications or anything yet either.

I thought about saying the same thing. But the fact I do not drive to work... well I didn't want to rub it in too much

I guess traffic for me is a tractor going too slow down a two lane road.

Sounds about right.

I don't drive to work either, but I also do not want to sit in the longer traffic path when I go to lunch with my wife or something.

I think it refers to these.
