Solved Installing XenServer 7 on Lenovo TS140

I tried to migrate one of my baremetal servers this weekend using Clonezilla. The cloning process worked fine. When I tried to restore the image it wouldn't restore because my bare metal server called the drives i had ccsc/c0d0, ccsc/c0d1 and ccsc/c0d2, but inside XenServer they were called sda, sdb and sdc so Clonezilla wouldn't restore them. Fortunately there is a utility that will convert the images to the new names (one drive at a time) which worked without an issue, so I kicked off the restore and waited.
After completion, not completely unexpectedly the system won't boot - it blue screens 0x0000007e which currently isn't helping me know what drivers I need to fix.
So with all of that in mind, I'm considering doing a staged approach (yeah JB already mentioned this - but well after I had started the Clonezilla process) to VMware, then to XS - but I'm back to the storage problem. My ESXi server doesn't currently have enough storage to hand one copy of the 700+ GB system.

No you don't need a license. The licensing is for Citrix supported systems. If you are going the open source, non-supported (community support) edition then you are fine.

The CCSC/C0d1 and c0d2 are because of the raid controller in the system. The clonezilla process pulled the raid information along when it made the image.

How about creating Datastore in XS7 to upload images (ISO) to create new VMs ?

I have tried to create Storage Repository locally on XS7 but it's asking for SMB/NFS/CIFS details to setup. I do not have other resource (file server) to configure and trying to configure with local storage to upload ISO files, isn't it possible ?

Also, there was an Mobile App from VMWare "Watchlist" to monitor and manage VMWare ESXi6 Host, is there something like that available for XS7 ?

Also, how about spinning one FreeNAS VM on XS7 itself and pointing SR to FreeNAS share ;)?

Also, I didn't find any Mobile App for XS7 alike "Watchlist" for VMWare, I will assume, there is no such app.

Now it's turn to setup backup with Xen Orchestra (open source).

Why use FreeNAS, why not just any number of Linux distros?

Why use FreeNAS, why not just any number of Linux distros?
For a really "no thought process" like the pinch you were in the other day where you needed storage space freenas may fit well enough.
I agree, don't use it for production (long term) but as a simple "no thought" required "give me storage" it works and is simple.
In a pinch where you're short on time / resources it fits.

As for using it as a backup repo for XS, you wouldn't backup any other server to it's self.
Get a separate XS host and create a linux server on it which has the storage space you need. Or a reasonable NAS.
It's not a good idea to backup to the same target you are running your live systems on.
