I there there is a better argument against cloverleaf interchanges, the crossing there is done at high speed with no traffic lights.

A jug handle isn't a cloverleaf though--two different types of turns. They are all over NJ. We're the only state I know of that has adopted them so crazily. You'll almost never make a left in NJ on a major road practically.
Lunch time!

Same in Texas, but different way of handling it.

I prefer Spain's approach with round-a-bouts everywhere. They are SO fast and safe.

Maybe the safety comes over decades of driving them. I hate them! and I've been hit almost 4 times since I moved into my neighborhood with them, almost hit while in them.

How does someone get hit in a circle? They are so easy and safe. Are people running the yields or something?

That's going to be the same problem anywhere. Honestly, when I was driving through Nebraska a few weeks ago I literally had never seen so many people run red lights and go left against oncoming traffic. I dont know if circles are an issue as much as where you live. I had commented to several people that as soon as I got to Nebraska the drivers were terrible and I almost had several accidents (none at circles) and it was fine the moment I was out of Nebraska.

I think running a yield is a problem to be associated with running yields, not the circle beyond the yield.

Yeah, I think it's an American problem in general when it comes to Yields.

Even NY has this issue. It's ridiculous. And cops often ticketing the innocent party. It's a major problem.

ROFLOL - exactly. I suppose in 20 years or more, the culture will change, the notion of the roundabouts will be more accepted/appreciated, etc. In the meantime, we have the pain of transition.

It's the same issues as with healthcare. Europeans do it and don't have accidents so Americans act like it isn't true and ignore the global data that they are the safer, faster alternative. Places like Madrid even have them in the dead center of the city with a million cars on them, it's crazy, but it works.

The county engineers don't even know how to make a safe one in the states. Wooster, OH just put one in on the major north/south route through town. A truck can not safely traverse the thing. They put benches in the center... that get run over whenever a truck tries to use the intersection. On a state route....
Ok, I'll try to stop the old truck driver grumblings.

We have one in Geneseo, NY that no one is sure if it is a circle or just an intersection with something in the middle. It's too tight for even a car to make a turn around. It's crazy. No space for it at all.

At least no one dies when the trucks routinely drive through the fountain in Geneseo.

Probably best. Which route is it on? I drive through there all of the time.
