Unsolved Windows 10 boot errors with new PC

Once you can get to a command prompt from the advanced recovery console, you run this command:
bootrec /rebuildbcd
-
We are currently working on having a friend of her daughter make a recovery drive and a system repair disk so she has both options.
-
Any windows PC can be used to make a Windows installer disk.
Did the owner get it online? if they bought it a store just return it and get another. Sounds like it might have a bad disk.
-
@Dashrender She bought it online and it's the major Christmas present, so first we are gonna try repairing the disk while she waits for the company to get back to her.
-
If you have access to Spinrite, I'd run that.

Not that I'm aware of. Since you're rebuilding from scratch a DBAN might get the drive to wake up enough to make bad sectors bad... Then install Windows.

Solved this by getting a bootable USB installer and just installing fresh. All working now.

Good to hear that it was a 'simple' inexpensive fix.
One of the first things I plan to do with my new laptop tomorrow is to build the USB image, and then nuke it. This will eliminate all the bloat-ware from Dell.
I've already been building the Chocolatey.org installer to use on it.

boils down to a batch file with all the programs I will install, via Chocolatey. Comes to about 12 applications thus far.
