@scottalanmiller Nope. There is a reseller in Canada that uses ubnt.ca but they make it clear there is no association with ubnt.com.
I did see that, I know that that website was not them, at least.

How much are the sfp+ you need for it?
-
I hate how this stuff is all unifi. no love for the edgemax line.

I've been using DAC cables with my EdgeMax switch and they've been working perfectly. I ordered these and haven't had any issues with them.
-
@Romo Yep, that's the EdgeMax version but at $599 and good luck finding it at that price and in stock (usually in preorder status). Canadian resellers have been advertising this one at around $899 CDN but no stock. And this price point is more difficult to obtain the WAF (wife approval factor) than the $299 price.

Your server(s) have these connections on them? I haven't dealt with 10G yet, so I have no idea what to expect.
-
Just curious, what do you gain by having 10Gb at home? Is this just so you can live fail over something in test? Even at $299, plus $200 for the cables, assuming you only need two, $500 is not a small amount for a home lab. Sure 1 Gb takes 10 times longer to prove your test, but this just a lab... I'm wondering what I'm missing?

Maybe he just wants the experience with 10g?
I'd do it if I had the money (and wife approval, ha ha).

Yes, I have Intel X520-DA2 NICs installed on my servers.

@Dashrender One of the servers in my lab is a file server with 56TB drive assigned to the VM. Backup and replication for this were the biggest drivers for looking to move to 10G. Not to mention who wants to wait for a large file to transfer over 1G
Some of my customers are also moving to 10G in their networks which meant I needed to become more familiar with how best to setup and manage these. It's simple networking, true, but it made sense that I could demonstrate the benefits to clients when necessary.

Holy *&%&$ - you have 56 TB at home? What in some deity's name for?
*other commentary that's meaningless -
damn that much storage must have set you back a small fortune
what are you doing running a piracy hosting site out of your house? -

what are you doing running a piracy hosting site out of your house?I have a lot more than 56TB but that's just for 1 VM. It's local backup server also has 56TB. Also have another 8TB of SSD stprage to run an array of VMs. The file server is a Plex server for the family and also serves as shared storage for family and friends (remote CIFS storage added to a NextCloud VM). It's only about 70% utilized right now but it keeps growing as more family photos and videos are added almost every day.

And this is a home lab only?
-
@dafyre Yes. I run my business from home so the lab does have production components but the business portion used to actually run and maintain my business is a pretty small footprint.
-
Why so much storage for backups? Do you have more than just the 8 TB of SSD VM storage?
-
@Dashrender The file server VM is currently at about 40TB used of 56TB available. Plus a number of other VMs that are all together using about 3-6TB (depending how many VMs I'm testing with at any one time). In total, I have a need for close to 46TB of backup space when you add it all up.
-
lol - you have more storage, etc at home than my office does.

My lab is similar to that, too
