Is there anything that can be done to stop the account creation? Obviously there is nothing happening yet, but allowing the accoutns to be created in the first place is a bad thing.

No Captcha method exists on the NodeBB platform, so I've been told. It's in the works but nothing yet, so the account creation can't be stopped as of right now. It bugs me too.

Every site like this has that problem. It's a tough one. Waiting on NodeBB to fix the sign up gateway.
Luckily only one account has ever attempted spam.

I prefer answer the question spam prevention, like which is not an animal: sheep, cow, car, chicken.

perhaps, but I cut all bot spam using that on a few sites we run.
