So you know how people always ask you "what are your top 3/5/10 movies of all time"? Well, I decided to compile my current list, based on my experiences in life to date and how the movie has impacted me. Here is my Top 10 with 5 Honorable Mentions.

      01 - Shawshank Redemption

      02 - V for Vendetta

      03 - Up!

      04 - Princess Bride

      05 - Cash Back (2004)

      06 - Green Mile

      07 - Mr. Holland's Opus

      08 - American History X

      09 - Dead Poet's Society

      10 - The LEGO Movie

Honorable Mentions: Secondhand Lions, Life is Beautiful, Field of Dreams, The Last Samurai, Forrest Gump, Spirited Away

      Thanks,

      A.J.

                ?? Never heard of it.

Wong Kar Wai's landmark vignette piece. One of the most important HK films ever and the first movie ever produced by Rolling Thunder.

Yup, none of that means anything to me.

Maybe it's time to explore cinema a bit.

Many of the ones above, but add Ghost Busters, Ip Man, Ip Man 2, Highlander, and pretty much any cheesy disaster film.

So much this.. My Netflix history is a testament to this.

Of course there are only so many of those, so I branch out into B movies quite a lot.

It's funny, but I just love them. NY freezes in 20 minutes...awesome. Let's fly to a freaking asteroid, drill, and drop a nuke....yeah, Murica! Big on science here, but I can just enjoy these films for their over the top themes. I still laugh so much with Sharknado. Hey, let's just fly this helicopter next to the tornado and drop these homemade explosives. That'll do the trick.

This is still on my list of things I need to watch. As a cord cutter who is lazy about staying current, I have not seen this yet. It is high on my I need to see list though. For basically the same reasons. Enjoyment regardless of the reality.

That said occasionally, my mind does reject a movie or show because it is just too much ignoring reality. This usually happens with things that are placed semi "soon" in the real world disaster concept. I did watch the entire first season of Revolution but I simply could not suspend my disbelief enough to truly enjoy it.

The concept of nanites that suck up electricity. I'm fine with that, but I did wonder about lightning. Bonus, no more static shock. The part the got me was that they simply ignored the entire back end. What about all the Nuclear plants? Electricity can ben shutdown. but the generating source has to be dealt with. Coal, LNP, solar, etc no big deal. But nuclear? and they based part of the story around Chicago. There is a nuke plant in northwestern Illinois.

The end of season 1 was also handled so bad. Again because of the generators. There is no way that turning off the nanites would restore power. You would have to turn ON the generators.

I like sci-fi/fantay. But you have to either be completely out there or you need to keep your pseudo science believable.

Sharknado is on Netflix now. I went into it knowing it was gonna be bad. However, the acting and everything about it is so bad that it was funny. +

I did and it was fairly good. While I know Tai Chi is a disguised martial arts form, I have only known it as that slow exercise old people do., so it was a bit weird watching. 🙂
