Vinyl printer for large graphics and signs?

Does anyone have any experience with vinyl printers? I have a company that would like to be able to do their own banners and signs for vehicles. They figure they have enough volume to be able to justify in the neighborhood of $15,000 on something like this.

Take the money used on this and put it towards finding an existing vendor. This equipment isn't cheap, plus the training to use the machinery.

That was my original thought, but they are already farming a lot out, which is how they came up with the number and have a girl that knows her way around vector graphics, so would like to bring it in house.

So I talked to someone who does this. The training for one of these printers in usually around 10-15 hours to learn to use them depending on their proprietary software. So knowing Vector Graphics is a very tiny piece to it. That being said the printer companies do usually provide this training when you purchase the printer so might be worth it to them.

Yes there is that too. I know that some printers can run as much as $6K/year in maintenance costs

Sounds about right for what I have seen. That will be very entry level, but viable.
