Calling the Google phone a Huawei is like calling the iPhone a Foxconn.If you called an iPhone a Foxconn in the US, nobody would buy it. That's nothing but sales-dick shystery... I mean, marketing. "Huawei" has zero "cool" points in the US, so they re-brand it. So, while the Google phone is exactly, 100% a "Huawei" phone that has been sales-dickified. Um, I mean rebranded.

I speak my mind with blunt honesty.... vendors don't really like it... SW hates it, and modded me out of existence for it. And I refuse to apologize for any of it, because the vendor was in the wrong.

You can buy these phones easily in the US.
Best Buy even has them in stock here in Orlando.
Oh and you can get them through Target as well.

Did you read the reviews of EMUI 5.0? So far every reveiwer loves it. I know for a fact the Mate 9 ships with EMUI 5.0

Out of the box you have to give EVERYTHING permission to run. Even system apps such as phone or messages. Even when you install an app like facebook and accept permissions to install, once installed you must give permission to your SD card so you can upload photos.
Maybe that is why the NSA doesn't like it lol. China really has no benefit spying on average everyday citizens. As stated in one of the articles they more interested in military espionage. Plus Huawei has manufactured several phones here including the Google phone, and some of their own branded stuff which dates back to at least 2012.

Still very stable. This phone is better in every way than any Samsung phone I've used except battery life. I got 1 solid day out of this phone, but I could get 2 out of my Galaxy phones. For half the price of a Galaxy phone and all the hardware, I am very happy with this phone.

It's been 2-3 years now, want to circle back? What do you think? I've been really seriously considering making the switch with my next upgrade. The S9 is way better than my old iPhone 7, but Samsung has really made it clear that they don't respect their customers and want me to consider other products (they have a whole Bixby product made just to make me constantly remember to look at alternatives - thanks for the reminders Samsung) and Huawei's P30 looks like the best thing on the market from reviews.

I can say one thing for sure I dont miss Samsung in particular. It was challenging working without Google Play Services, but there are quite a few apps that are not dependent on it. I was able to get through everything with 3rd party tools. Some of which do integrate with Google services such as youtube or play store. There is an app called skytube for youtube access and an app called yalp store where you can download play store packages anonymously. Granted you cannot access anything paid from it.
I found that pretty much there was an alternative to everything ... with one big exception. Google Maps. There is no decent replacement for it tbh. Being without Google Maps was the most painful thing of it all.
I eventually got a new device and CopperheadOS was not available. The best thing about CopperheadOS was the fact that there was no target advertising anymore since I wasnt using any Google services.

Your Hauwei had Android, but not the Google Play Store? I thought that the recent (like yesterday) news of Google cutting off Huawei the big thing was removing their access to the Play Store and Google Maps and that stuff. But Huawei already doesn't have it?

I've got the Huawei P20 Pro.
I've had it for 9 months or so. Previous phones were a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge which my 2 year old son threw down a stone stairs and a OnePlus 2 which he threw into the toilet. I can honestly say the Huawei phone is the best I've had by distance. The camera setup was a step above the other falgships at the time and I believe the P30 continues that trend. When my son finds a way to destroy this one I'll definitely be looking at Huawei again, if they're not completely crippled by the Google stuff. -

Great feedback. I've been doing some SAMIT videos on YouTube doing analysis of the Google situation. Personally, I think Huawei is going to weather the storm. But it'll be tough.
