Yay. I hope this sticks around for a while. Apparently this is the forked version of good old TrueCrypt.

Nothing on the main page or the about page says jack about where/how they forked from TrueCrypt. Did not have time to dig further.

Awesome! Though from the anonymous posts that the supposed original authors made, they were hoping no one would do this. Their concern was that no one would know the code like they did and do as good a job.

I guess we will see. I hope these guys can get the financial backing for continued auditing too.

I do not see anything on there that says they forked truecrypt. Maybe I am missing it..
                I see this page.

I don't know if I believe that that was the original authors.

Thanks, I have not had leisure time yet today to pursue this. I believed that they were because @Bill-Kindle had zero reason to make something up, but a little more info on the home or about pages would go a long way.

Right and I wouldn't make it up. I loved that app and await it's replacement.

They say on the home page that it started as a fork. I'm only guessing here but it was probably a result of this being available:
                          https://github.com/FreeApophis/TrueCrypt

Last talk I saw was that some company in Switzerland was scooping it up, and the ciphershed.org whois report points to Muenster, Germany.

I didn't even make it to the 'about' page before seeing that it's called a fork of TrueCrypt. Here what I see on the homepage

It's awesome that there is now a formal project for this and they changed the name so the "TrueCrypt is dead" people don't have to know that it is still around.
