Dongle dilemma provokes Apple price cut
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-37880723Apple deems iPhone 7 to be legacy already. Current Apple devices now need adapters between them.
-
I'm so sick and tired of Apple's business model (and I don't even use their products).
They just constantly change their plugs, ports, and general idea, forcing consumers to purchase more accessories, with every new model.
Hey Apple, I want a solution that works, and doesn't require 15 different adapters to play on my ___________. Water proof is great, but damn it no headphone jack, OK, fine, makes some sense, but AirBuds without a cord, and the cord is extra!
Get real.

Oh dear. That's a failing in strategy.

I thought that the iPhone 7 came with headphones and that they wired in. I'll know for sure in a few hours, my new phone is at the house waiting for me.

This one does seem bad. Having to call your own brand new latest and greatest phone "legacy" just weeks after release with nothing new on the horizon doesn't bode well. Smacks of infighting.

It does, and it uses the charging port of the phone. So while it "works" the whole point is wireless capabilities, hence the point that apple came out with the AirBuds.
But the AirBuds as I've seen don't come with a strap to make sure they don't fall out and disappear.

Wireless isn't the point, or even a positive. Waterproof was the point.

Waterproof can't be the point...
If you read the fine print on one of those TV ads, it says they will not warranty water damage to the phone! -

If you read the fine print on one of those TV ads, it says they will not warranty water damage to the phone! They've been super clear that it was for waterproofing. That they do not warranty water damage doesn't tell us anything. They don't warranty against drops to concrete, yet they attempt to design the phone to survive as much of a fall as possible.
The audiojack was a major barrier to being water proof. The iPhone 7 can now be dunked in water, I saw it demonstrated with @rob's iPhone several times this week, in fact.
Waterproofing is definitely the point. There was no benefit except that.
