@Dashrender - But how does it hurt them as a commercial company? How many start-up products fall flat on their face because they commit to more then they can handle at the start?

A lot of companies have had success with this model, why is it a bad thing long term to have a closed process at the start?

I don't have a problem with closed. I have a problem with a note basically telling me - piss off, we don't know you, we can't be bothered to create a mailing lists for you to leave your contact info so when the project does open up the vendor can contact you.

If the page says - Invite only, have a nice day and that's all - how is that not an F you? Having an interest list allows the vendor to not over commit at all. When the vendor can open to more users, they have a per-existing list they can tap for most customers. If you just turn me away, it's likely I'll forget about you for a long time.

I don't think I opened my gmail account until open enrollment was open for 2 years. If they would have asked for an email contact for me when I learned about it.. I probably would have been a day 1 open enrollment account.

So assuming there's value in having me as an account holder, then they lost 2 years of value all because they didn't keep an interest list.

^ This. (I may be taking it slightly out of context)... but how is this any different than say... a closed beta limited to X number of people at first?

it's not, and assuming there is no interest list there either, it's just as bad. 🙂

Right. Every app I've ever used in closed beta has always at least gotten my email so they could let me know when public beta, or general availability was announced.

            It's time to say goodbye.

            I've had an IPhone 3Gs and had a 4s and 5s respectively.

            You are uninspiring
            Dull
            Over-priced hunk of electronics.

            Having read reviews of alternatives:
            https://oneplus.net/uk/3

I'm settling on this. The reviews basically say it has almost all the specs of the Note 7 and Iphone 7 but is half the price, amazing reviews of a good company with good support, so a good move across to Android. It'll be here later in the month, will post my thoughts on it.

Just wanted to make sure that you are aware that there are no card slot for this and available internal storage is 64GB (based on GSM Arena specs details.

              @JaredBusch

GoogleVoice used to be invite, etc.

Ha I forgot about that. Inbox was invite only also for a while.

Thanks but my current phone is a 32GB which I'm only half filling at the moment, 64GB is plenty.

Hmm, this looks inviting. It seems to be almost Nexus-like in their updates and pricing. I might look into one of these when I get off of Windows Phone.

Are these available in the US? I heard about them, but at the time, they weren't available on this side of the planet.

Leo LaPorte has one, talks about it on his TWIT network all the time... but it's never a front running phone, just a me too one.

Any updates on this @Breffni-Potter? I've been eyeing this one and the ZTE Axon 7. I still might get the Moto G4 Play though. It is hard to beat $99 for those specs (Amazon Prime deal).
