So we are leaving..............

Yeah I don't expect a lot to happen from this, besides the fact that now there will be trade tariffs that have to get paid. And these businesses will say, "OKAY" because that tariff is nothing compared to losing the entire market space there.

The market is having an initial shock due to UK actually leaving. In the long run we will do better than fine.
No way in hell will the Middle East want to see the UK economy (and property) crash, as they would lose hundreds of billions. No way will German car manufacturers want to lose the 20%-30% sales from the UK, the French car manufacturers too. Supermarkets such as ALDI and LIDL are heavily invested in the UK and would want to keep that income coming in. Others too.
Large companies will force the EU to keep trade with the UK, as without trading with the 5th largest economy the EU will not have the funds to survive and bale out Greece, Italy so on so forth. Without the UK 'footing the bill', they probably wont be able to anyway.
*6th Largest. France overtook us this morning...

Haha, but i'm sure you get my point. Lets see how well they are doing when they have to support Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia and Turkey on top of bailing out Greece whilst trying to manage a messed up Spain and Italy. Germany and France are screwed if they do not keep working with the UK.
Markets are just a bit unstable as they didn't actually expect the leave vote to win. It will come back when places in the EU realise how much they will lose by 'shunning' investment with the UK.

My point of view: I'm scared.
Yes, no-one knows what will happen, but to be left without any legal support from Brussels on the important issues? That's scary. No forced adaption of the European Convention for Human Rights? Nothing stopping the tories from selling off the NHS/Privatising it/Charging for its use (as many of the main Leave campaigners have openly said/supported)? And that's ignoring the fact the majority of NHS workers are foreign.
It's the Tories that have devastated our NHS through constant cuts, not the EU. The Tories that are getting rid of the NHS-Training bursaries. The Tories that have slashed funding to ALL the emergency services in recent years, the Tories that have overseen the largest closure of cottage hospitals... And now there is nothing stopping them from continuing along that vein.
Markets are more than a bit unstable...I've lost 30% of my pension overnight. Our currency is at the lowest point in ALL the time I've been alive. A campaign of fear and false facts won over reason in my eyes.

All very valid points. I hope when we make our own rules we make them fair and work for the people. That is a risk. A huge one, but its worth a shot as being rules by a different entity removes our control.
Investors have seen what was happening with the vote and have moved money around to try to make a profit from the vote. After then initial shock it will all come back (I hope ha). Give it time...

it will certainly be interesting to see what happens, although I expect it to get worse before it gets better personally...especially with the Tories in power looking after their friends first before the disabled/old/poor who need the help more than anyone right now...

Not shocked at all, I've predicted this since the referendum was called. From the US side, it looks firmly like the UK was looking to Trump and following the US election and using that propaganda at home. Trump certainly can be president and I honestly think is likely to be.
If you look at the reasoning for the exit, it sounds like Trump wrote it.

And don't get me wrong, I don't think that the UK is "better together" but I also don't feel that the US is "better together." I'm a pro-Texas independence thinker and also feel that the west and east coasts should not be a unified nation but rather a group of loosely affiliated regions more like the EU than the current US. Too much difference between the regions ideologically.
Here here! The main thing that concerns me with a break up of the US, is what happens to the fly over states? Would they actually have more or less money then they have today?
-
The EU will do whatever it takes to punish the UK. They can't allow a successful Brexit or other nations will follow.

that's seems much less likely if for no other reason than the shared currency, but I have no idea what I'm talking about - so ignore me.

If they do not help make it a success, they will lose out on the money from the UK and will be unable to support the EU. Either way, sounds like EU has some difficult times ahead too.

I'm not really sure what this even means?

It means that the EU will try to punish the UK for leaving, and will try to deny them the ability to rejoin the EU.
He's saying the EU is better off without the UK, and they can go suck eggs.

Yep. The EU has no choice not matter how much they need the UK. They have to pretend like they don't.
-
You know, I know so little about this. I think I'm going to read up on it. I didn't really understand why there was a EU to begin with and my uneducated point of view had me a bit worried about it.

not even rejoining the EU, it means we won't be able to stay with the single-market - that is an agreement between the EU countries and a few outside countries that never joined the EU - where basically they can trade between themselves without having to pay tax, but get better rates and preferential treatment etc...part of the Leave campain's rhetoric was that we could still be a part of that...

Because they didn't want there to be a reason to have anymore massive wars. They wanted peace and unity. Since the EU was formed, there has been 0 conflict between any of the member states...the longest period of peace in the region for hundreds of years or longer... It has so many positives to its member states, the European Convention of Human Rights and the open market agreement, freedom of movement and many more

OK, so before I form any opinions, why would Britain leave? They don't strike me as war mongers. LOL
