I got an Apple Watch for Christmas. Love this thing, oh wait rethinking that now... until last night. Last night I was sitting on the deck with some friends at a local bar/restaurant. Just sitting, I had turned the notifications on my watch off about an hour before cause texting with family was driving me nuts (constant vibration). I got a nasty shock, which is the best way I can describe it, electrical shock. I took the watch off and my wrist under the watch it's self was all red with one small (about the size of a pencil tip) red mark, that burned and still does. Took the watch off shut it off and put it in my pocket. My wrist bothered me (not like had to go to the hospital or anything but was tender) for a couple hours. Later I decided to try and put the darn thing on again, and about half hour later it happened again (but had the watch on looser this time). So took it off and left it off after that.

Just spent the last HOUR on the phone with apple support. Talked to way too many people, was asked personal questions and they will not even look at the watch or get me a new one until I send them pics of my wrist with the watch on and without and the marks on it etc., and then they will decide in a few days if they will do anything.

I mean they asked if I had asthma!!! WTF?? What does that have to do with my apple watch?

Yes I am ticked off if you can't already tell that.... 😞

The great and powerful Apple hath decided that ye shall not turn off yon notifications, lest ye be shocked for non-compliance with Apple's policy of non-removal.

(in all seriousness, that is messed up, and I hope they fix or replace your device... and wrist.)

I really just want them to look at the darn watch or send me a replacement, its only 5 months old.

That's crazy that you've only had it that long... but I still think it's possible that they do this stuff on purpose. The timing is too perfectly aligned.

"Oh she doesn't like the vibrating alerts, we'd better enable the electrical shock notification system for her"

              HAHAH

              🙂

I'd love to do a mock up of a helpdesk flow chart.

Has user turned it off or on again? Y/N

If N, ask to turn it off and on again.

If Y, ask if they have asthma.

I'd call and open another support ticket, ask for a manager straight away and make it clear that you need a reasonable resolution or this will be filed with the FTC. Shocking people and ignoring them and using it as a means to collect inappropriate medical information (they are not under HIPAA, by the way) is totally not okay and you can call in a tip for a HIPAA audit there 🙂

Taking to social media is a great way to get contacted by customer service for larger organizations. Worked for Frontier communications and some others in the past. Contacted very quickly.

Well apple support reached out on Twitter and is looking into it... yeah I doubt that is going to help me any.

So in other news I think I might be getting a Fitbit. I know a few people that really like theirs.

Oh, oh, me, me, I do! lol.

I've got the Fitbit Charge. It's been great. My only complaint is that the bands they used with this one fall apart too easily (I had to have the band on mine replaced just before the warranty went out)... But I'm not easy on watches either, lol.

I would never write off a company jut based on phone support. But that said, it completely sours the product in question.

Well, if their public support team can't help you then yeah... it's time to move on... I'd give them a day or two to respond before publicly announcing you are ditching Apple watches...

I had an issue with iCloud. (Couldn't access it on any web browser.) I was very shocked at how bad the first few support people I spoke with were.

When I finally spoke with someone helpful, they got it fixed.

Hope you find that person quickly.

In order to get any resolution on having the watch checked out I have to take pics of the watch, pics of my wrist, and then send them in. Then I need to wait on if they think they will do anything about it.

Now if I was trying to sue them or something this makes sense. I just want them to look at the damn watch!
