      you updated the DNS record? I assume this means you created a dedicated DNS name for WSUS and you're using the host name?

          Did you migrate the DB or are you just setting it up from scratch on the new server? Here is the migration guide, in case anyone needs it.

          I did this about a year ago. Wasn't too bad. Make sure to update your GPO to reflect the new server name.

            New Server. It's been 24 hours and it's still not working 😞 - Something is wrong.

                Let me find my settings....

                This will show for servers as I control those. I could care less about client updates so those get dealt with by Microsoft, and troubleshooting on an as-needed basis if there is an issue like "after an update, my Outlook opens in Safe Mode".

                    If you changed the hostname or port on that server, nothing's going to work if you haven't adjusted the GPO.

                      @BBigford Thanks!

                      On WSUS 3.2 and earlier, port 80 for HTTP and 443 for HTTPS
                      On WSUS 6.2 and later (at least Windows Server 2012), port 8530 for HTTP and 8531 for HTTPS

                        Yeah I probably should have specified the right port numbers. I've watched the sun come up for two days with no sleep so I'm a little hallucinogenic at work right now. 😐

                          @BBigford No Problem. Once I realized that the port numbers change, I realized the issue right away.

                          Clients are being seen by the WSUS server now 🙂
