Since joining the new domain i can no longer \IPADDRESS into anything. What has to be done in group policy to allow this?

First thing to always do when network topology chanfges is click on the network in windows explorer.

Windows will then prompt you with a yellow bar to enable browsing or warn you that you are on a public network and ask if you want to enable browing on pulic networks or make your current network private.

If that is not the problem, then it is off to windows firewall land.

you had to enable remote admin to allow you to UNC? Where you trying to UNC to the computer in question or from the computer in question?

UNC to the admin shares should have still worked, assuming you were logged into the computer you were coming from with a domain admin account (or an account that had local admin rights to the one you changed).

But if you were trying to do remote admin stuff.. then yah, you found the fix.
