I have always liked Sony tv quality in the tube days. Have not kept up with tv quality since the LCD switch.

Let alone any of the new LED and OLED stuff.

Agreed, I'm really like Vizio today price wise, but the lack of HDR considering I bought my last TV 11 years ago I'd rather get something pretty close to bleeding edge.

Do you have a better source to look at pricing?

              Do a search on slickdeals.net

If you aren't in a hurry, you'll find the best deals there. you can even set up alerts for model names for when tey get posted.

The best picture quality I've had in a personal TV was a Samsung. One of the first LED back light sets they made. The key feature was full array local dimming, in the portions of the picture that were dark the back lights would be turned off, gives a true black that anything without FLD just can't match. My current set is a 55" Visio C55-V2. It's got local dimming, but not full array local dimming.

FLD/LD and HDR are the two big features I'd be checking for.

I've had Vizio's they're not bad. One of the better quality cheaper TVs. But I wouldn't buy one of their models if you are looking for something highend.

I don't want to say I'm specifically looking or high end, but I definitely don't want something I'm going to be disappointed about in a year or two either.

I did end up getting the Samnsung UN65KS8000. And I have no idea where I got those prices from listed in the OP, but when I went back and bought it, the self price was $2575 and the out the door (before taxes) was $2020.

Sadly they are out of stock and it's currently back ordered until June according to the computer. But to get this price I had to order now, the sale is over as of 9 PM tonight.

I'd seriously research as much as you can about each specific television. There are brands that are safer than others (Samsung is generally safe, Sony as well) but this isn't always true. I got a 50 inch "lagless" Vizio smart TV for under $500. It might be the best purchase I've ever made. Absolutely perfect for what I needed. Took a ton of research to find it though.

Another thing to consider is size. I once researched the 40 inch Sharp Aquos and found a 60 inch in the store that I ended up purchasing. It's not the same TV at all. The 40 inch version was fantastic. The 60 inch was horrendous. The research really pays.
