Which country is that? I've never heard of beards being banned. Visible tattoos and unusual body piercings, yes, but half of the male population of the UK seems to have a beard at the moment.

Sadly, I am unable to grow one 😞

The only place I've been asked to shave was when I was a mechanic, never in IT...

For me it's primarily religious reasons (Islam), however years ago when I was required to shave it was a pain in the butt. It seems really bizarre they require you to be clean shaven, and it's not the military? Based on your name perhaps you're in India?

If you are in India, or simply depending on your cultural background, you could use one of these three reasons:

Islam: It is Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar in the Hadith (Sahih al-Bukhari, 72:781) that the Prophet said "Trim your moustache and leave your beard." Plus also you can pull from older Jewish texts about facial hair as well which are also considered valid, or at least mubah (neutral).

Hinduism: Most Deva consider clean shaven to be, well, "clean" however aside from the Yogis and so forth which have long beards because they aren't allowed to own anything, even a razor (so many say is the reason), another reason to have a beard is that as you do sadhana having a beard was once asid to trap your shakti. That's my understanding and it may be inaccurate so please take no offence if you are Hindu and I'm completely wrong. At any rate, it is a potential reason.

Sikhism: I didn't forget this one, but they aren't really allowed to cut their hair at all is my understanding, and that includes beards.

Additionally if you are one of the Christians in India, you can also pull from the Old Testament and use the same religious laws there (Leviticus 19:27, 21:5; 2 Samuel 10:4-5, and tons more.)

Many government jobs in the us required it. Rarely do private sector for IT.

Beard length directly correlates to Linux knowledge. Tell them if you shave, you'll know less.

Possibly not a good idea, if he works with Windows exclusively he may have to take off the first layer of skin.

Then he has to value what hair he does have. Hair doesn't survive well in Windows environments.

In high school, we had 1 male student who was allowed to have a beard because he had a doctor's note for having extremely sensitive skin... maybe that will fly with your company. "But boss, it hurts to shave!"

Spoken like a true Windows Admin, lol.

*I stare solemnly off in the distance, rubbing the short hair on my head, wishing for it to grow faster than I feel the need to pull it out.

Get a doctor's note saying you have a problem with skin irritation and ingrown hairs if you have to shave.

This is what a lot of my military friends are doing, although they do actually get serious skin irritation if they shave.

I'm the opposite if my beard grows too long I start to get irritation. The longest I've got without a shave was 3 months... it was pure torture toward the end.

I collect them! Best shave you can get, and incredibly cheap for blades. Treat yourself to a blade sample pack and find one that shaves best for you! I like the Feather blades - first shave is too close (remember to adjust the height dial!), second and third are perfect. The other one I enjoy is the Lord Platinum - two perfect shaves, then toss.

I've been using shark blades. I get 4 or 5 good shaves per blade. I'm actually on my last one need to get some new ones.

@coliver I didn't enjoy those at all but that's why the sample pack is awesome!

I wouldn't recommend going more than 3 shaves unless you shave daily. The blades rust and lose their edge very quickly.
