Latest Snowden leak reveals the NSA intercepted and bugged Cisco routers

Of course they would say that, because it would really hurt them. They are the 800 lbs silverback gorilla of the networking world.
-
Even asking them is silly. If they were forced to participate they are also forced to not disclose it.
-
This is basic spy stuff, right? Also, even if they did cooperate, they have to say they didn't.

Right. For all we know, everyone one if us has been contacted by the NSA. None of us are ever allowed to tell each other, though.

very true, it is smart from a PR perspective to deny deny deny, however we all know that it happened and they have now been caught. I am interested to know if any other major providers are going to be outed for doing something similar.

It's not PR. It's the law. It is illegal for them to admit. So the truth isn't a factor. If it didn't happen, they would deny. If it did happen they would deny. Denial is the only legal option.

And it smells really bad, like sulfur, rotten cauliflower and cooked spinach all at once

So many businesses never patch their external-facing routers, so this would be a cakewalk in many cases.
-
It's amazing how few companies patch the external firewalls. Definitely shocking.

wait, they didn't tell me to keep quiet. did they forget? did I? oh no
