@Dashrender The Linux Update Tool, right?
Each manufacture makes their own - so it could be Linux, it could be Windows PE.
Since you bought them from xByte, you should call them and ask their process for updating the drives from outside an OS.
-
@Dashrender The server is from Dell, the drives are from xByte
-
Page 143 of the manual for the H700 (http://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_dell_adapters/poweredge-rc-h700_User's Guide_en-us.pdf) says to upgrade to the latest H700 firmware available from support.dell.com.

@NetworkNerd Good Find. Thanks!
-
No problem - does the VMWare HCL show supported firmware levels for things like the H700 for different vSphere versions? It's worth a look if they do. I was not sure.

Sure, but if the drives aren't Dell drives, then the Dell update is not helpful. You didn't say what brand the drives were.

You only have to follow the VMWare HCL if you want VMware to support you. VMware support is useless!

@Dashrender The only SSD drives the xByte sells
-
Xbyte will does sell OEM Dell SSD's.
. . .
But they're stupidly expensive, probably more so on Dell's site than they are on xByte's
-
FYI - We sell Dell and Edge SSDs. And yes, the Dell ISO is needed.
I will email around and see if I can get one of our engineers in this thread. They are all gone for the day, but they check email all weekend. If you are still having problems on Monday, give us a call. Unfortunately I just saw this and I have no engineers still in the office.

If you are trying to update the firmware on the raid card my best suggestion would be to do it through the lifecycle controller. Reboot the server and during post after the Dell splash screen in the top right corner you will see some option via key commands. Hit F10 to boot to system services. Once you've entered the system services/lifecycle controller environment you should be in the gui with a list of options on the left. Choose platform update, follow the on screen instructions to update the firmware for all the components you want, specifically the raid card. I haven't heard of drives being blocked before and I don't know the specifics of the drives you bought, but any we sell should be compatible with what I am assuming is and H-Series raid card you should have in your system.
