Problem with SonicWall Port Forwarding
-
No SonicWall here, sorry. What external port are you trying to use?
-
@alex-olynyk Post screenshot of how you have it configured.
-
Might want to rename this thread to something like "Problem with SonicWall Port Forwarding" as it's not actually related to ownCloud at all, it's purely a SonicWall networking question.

Remember in SonicWall you must do Nat and Open the port in the Firewall.
-
What about the screen that shows the OC Services definition?

In the first image appear Destination Wan Primary IP, Is correct?
I think destination should be LAN no Wan.
-
@alex.olynyk I guess looking at those screens I see 8080 in the name, but I don't see what port is assigned to the inside or to the outside.

@scottalanmiller How do I create that mapping?

I don't know, right now I'm not even sure what mapping you want. I'm 99% sure that we now know what the issue is, because this has to be very explicit or it can't work. So that it's not been shown, there isn't any port open yet.
So let's start with defining the desired state. OC is on 8080 internally. What port do you want it on on the outside?

To simplify things, I'd recommend making it 8080 on the outside as well.

@scottalanmiller I dont know. Its my first time doing this. How about 81?

I'm not sure what your goal is, so I'm unable to really answer for you.
You should ideally never play around with low numbered ports. Either use them as they are supposed to be used or avoid them.
Why do you not want to use 8080? 8080 is as standard as a non-standard port gets.

- I hate SonicWall with a passion.
- Have you followed the manufacturers instructions?

Agreed, one of the worst firewalls on the market.
-
At least to get started, use port 8080 in both places. Unless port 8080 is already used on your outside interface.
-
@scottalanmiller I can use 8080. I dont know how to open that port on the SW.
