Donut Destroyer and the Drone
-
So thought that we should share the news and pics of @DonutDetroyer and the drone. About a week ago, our own @DonutDetroyer had a rather nasty encounter with a drone. He's had a bit of surgery since then and is now starting to recovery.

Ouch! Hope you get well soon.
-
Good luck on a speedy recovery @DonutDetroyer

get well soon DD. And may I kindly suggest you find a different profession since this is now your second run in with a drone in less than 12 months? I mean you must be like a cat where you have 9 lives since you already fell out of a tree trying to retrieve a drone and lived, now this?

Just about to order some stuff for my drone. Might add some extra thick gloves :D. Looks nasty hope it heals soon
-
What the hell did he try to swat it out of the sky with his bare hand..... Ouch. Hope you're feeling better.
-
@mlnews That's why you DO NOT fly with carbon fiber props around people. Ouch! (I don't know any more than what's been posted here, but it'd be a lot harder to cause that sort of damage with plastic props.) Do I need to start a drone safety thread?

I don't think he has much choice, he flies and trains people on commercial drones. He uses the big boys, the ones that fly over the ocean and go computer controlled for a long distance and are used to inspect resources at sea and stuff like that. I don't think plastic props are an option on that kind of gear.
-
The stuff that he uses is basically like the military stuff.... except without the guns.

And he does rotary quad copter stuff and fixed wing, too. Wide range. He can't type, but he is watching the thread.

@RojoLoco said: I have always hated that scene because they did not even bother to do anything with the cuff of his shirt. I mean really, we know it is a movie, but still bad is bad.
-
@JaredBusch LOL, me too. I always feel that that scene was so lazy.
