Sorry, I don't have any experience with Bitlocker.

Is it asking for a recovery key?

In my experience with Bitlocker, if ANYTHING changes, it invalidates the key, and it will ask for your recovery key, which is a 30+ character code to type in.

I found that out the hard way once by simply updating the BIOS of the server. Rebooted to a recovery screen.

Aight Fam (short for family), this is what I've discovered that seems to be working thus far.

                  1. Go into the bios to see if TPM is activated or deactivated. If deactivated, click activated, apply, exit and restart computer.
                  2. Log in as admin, type in search bar "tpm.msc and select.
                  3. On the far righthand side under, "Actions", see if TPM is initialized. If not, click on initialize to initialize it.
                  4. Once you finished initializing it, the computer will ask to restart.
                  5. After logging in, go to Control Panel, Bitlocker
                  6. If the Bitlocker is turned off, turn it on and allow it to do it's work in the background

Now mind you I just discovered that the Bitlocker can be on, but a server will give a notification stating otherwise due to the Bitlocker on the computer isn't properly communicating with the server.
To check to see if this is the case, Go into the property of the computer via AD. Under the Bitlocker tab, if you don't see any pwd key or any information pertaining to Bitlocker that's the issue. Try to reset, if not, clear.
If you have to go beyond this point, it's beyond me. Thus far all that I mentioned above has worked for me. G'luck!

                    Oh good.

I thought you/he were locked out of your machine.

                    Bitlocker is finicky.

Thank you for your concern. The cool thing about Bitlocker, the Pwd recovery key is listed in the AD under the Bitlocker tab.

Unless it is a standalone system like many of mine. 🙂

AD is the much better option.

I tried to get my boss to have us upgrade everyone to Windows 10, he said nope, not until at least a year has passed... So instead we're using a separate encryption software for our needs.

@DustinB3403 one more aspect of the cost of not upgrading. Often the costs of staying back are hidding in the little things liek this.

HUH? Is bitlocker now included with Windows 10 Pro? I thought it was still limited to the Enterprise OS only?

LOL, that's not what I was asking... I'm asking "why do you have bitlocker enabled at home?" Is it just because you can? Because you wanted to test it to learn? Because you have files you want to make sure no one else can get to without your password?

I have pro at home too, but I wouldn't bother turning bitlocker on because it's a hassle I just don't have a warrant for at home.
