Stop buying Acer products. They notoriously have driver compatibility/availability issues, in my experience. And their website is never any help.

Not my computer. For a customer. And I agree.

I'd find the generic device type, and the manufacturer of it. Install those drivers.

I've tried finding the generic HID-compliant touchscreen drivers...can't find them.

Try uninstalling the USBHost Drivers and reinstalling. I've seen issues with them when stuff wasnt detected before.

That's what this was. Bad HDD that was replaced and they used the Acer Recovery media to reinstall. Touchscreen hasn't worked since.

                  Ok, I'll try that.

woo woo woo.. what? the recovery media didn't work.. damn Acer..

So there is nothing in the device manager indicating a missing driver, yet the screen doesn't work.. Are you sure the device has touch and the user isn't trying to pull a fast one?

Or perhaps touch screen stopped working before you got it

Yeah, I'm going to do some more digging. I uninstalled all the USB host drivers, as suggested. @Dashrender, it's possible it's not a touchscreen. I brought the computer in a few days before leaving in September (it's been there that long). I'll double check.

                              It's an Acer. I agree.

I've never had good luck with them. But I did have an Acer S3 Ultrabook (was given it) many years ago. for being one of the first ultrabooks out with decent specs it was pretty good. The computer only lasted 1 year before the battery quit though, of course no manufacturers warranties covers batteries. Sadly Acer did not make the battery any more and there were no third party ones ever made so it went to the trash. My Current Dell e7450 Ultrabook is far far better.

The only good Acer machines I ever saw were the netbooks. Those things were just awesome!

If it's not showing up on USB (which would show in Device manager) and it's not on a COM Port then it's most likely not a Touchscreen.

Their monitors can be 'ok' but not great. Granted Acer doesn't really make them. Neither does anyone else make their own monitors for the most part.
