Don't go for Drobo! They apply mods to Linux so you'll have hard times recovering data back from their devices. Been there done that (c) ...

Modify Linux? They don't even run Linux!

As is often the case, Wikipedia does not know everything. Straight from Drobo engineering, they run QNX, not Linux. There is Linux on SOME systems, but it is for only certain components and runs on a secondary controller. The Drobo system is always a proprietary UNIX system.

It's designed to backup bare metal machines.

While the B&R Free can be scheduled via scheduled tasks, I'm not sure the Endpoint Backup can be.

Yeah. The Desktop backup tool is the Endpoint Recovery free. It does work great on Windows Server installs as well. (Don't know if it works on Windows core installs or not though).

But I dont' think you can schedule it - well maybe you can with PowerShell.

You can schedule it via the GUI.

I have never needed to, but unless the software itself actually stops you, there is no reason it will not work.

Which what tool? Nearly all backup is done to NAS and nearly all is incremental. As a general question, yes of course. But specifically we would need to know what tool you are going to use. You've already stated in the original post and reiterated again and again that Windows cannot do incremental to a NAS, so we have to assume you are asking about something else.... but what? Veeam? If so, yes.

@IT-ADMIN -- I am running Veeam on Server 2012 R2, so I'd say try to install it and see. If you have a network share on your NAS with enough available space, Veeam should back up to it with no problems.
