If they can't get security right then who stands a chance?

Have you ever seen Dow Jones? They are not famous for being competent. I don't expect them to be very on top of things.

This has been an incredibly rough year for data security. I'm wondering if it's enough for the presidential candidates to address it as part of their election campaigns... and laughing at what that would probably end up looking like.

Oh, I figured they'd be more competent. TIL 🙂

Don't they trade things known as 'securities'? Ironical.

The data breach at DJ doesn't seem nearly as bad in terms of the scale of it.

Dow Jones & Co. disclosed that hackers had gained unauthorized entry to its systems, accessing contact information for current and former subscribers in order to send fraudulent solicitations.

They got hacked, so the hackers could spam their customers. Doesn't seem nearly worth mentioning when we're talking BCBS and Experian...

I bet they'll come out with updated larger numbers soon. These breaches always have a way of starting small and then once they have more time to figure out the true extent, they realize that it's more than 3,500.

Although how many people would really be customers of Dow Jones products? My friends who worked there said that they literally couldn't give away their papers, no one wanted them.
