You can test the autodiscovery with the Microsoft Connectivity test, you can also check if the SCP lookup is the culprit

@jaredbusch said in Connect Ubiquiti APs to a New Controller:

Controlled migrations have lots of tools and options.

But a downed controller has pretty much no option except to default the APs and readopt.

You will not even be able to SSH into the APs if you cannot log into the controller and get the device admin password for the site.

@JaredBusch is right. If you lost the controller it is a reset process. I recently went through something similar, however, it was the fact that our ISP at a location I manage decided to change out there cable modem and in doing so changed them from a static IP to a dynamic IP. Which is fine and easier for me but they didn't tell the client that they might have to reconfigure their equipment and didn't even bother to make sure they had internet. Switch cable modem and left. Client calls me and I get there and well the Ubiquiti Secure Gateway wasn't working because it was set to use a static IP on the WAN side. I was mad. So I had to reset the Ubiquiti Secure Gateway. Now here is the kicker, it would show up in my controller once I set the inform address but for some reason at least on the smaller USG's is that you had to ssh into them and set the inform address. Click on adopt in the controller and then while it says adopting in the controller run the inform command in ssh again. If you didn't do that it would be adopted but say disconnected. It was a long night until I found those instructions. Grrrr.

I hate the USG. Such a piece of crap.

I know, I wasn't the one that put it in, it is this one: https://www.ubnt.com/unifi-routing/usg/
They have the newer USG that are bigger. Are those any better?
      https://www.ubnt.com/unifi-routing/unifi-security-gateway-pro-4/
      https://unifi-xg.ubnt.com/usg-xg-8

It is better hardware under the hood, but it is still UniFi.

UniFi is shit on a router.

Nope, don't need it, I use Chocolatey to install most of that junk.

As JB said, take away admin rights and most of these problems go away.

Don't support home users and the issues ALL go away.

      Touche!

You should just need to run this bit, nothing should have to be changed. DFL should be at least 2008

This we hear a lot. Bad communications, unable to speak English, lots of passing the buck and run around, and then delay after delay presumably to push you to find an alternative to them actually doing something.

It's gone way downhill in the past year. Even our channel reps have been pretty shocked. The lack of English has been an issue for some time (obviously not the only company outsourcing though).

Offshoring. It is extremely unlikely that they are outsourcing. Outsourcing means going to another company. Offshoring is what sends stuff to India.

They might be doing both. Or neither, a lot of Indian call centers are in New Jersey.

Lol, my kinda of town 😉

      Success
      Here are steps i followed.

Exported valid cert to pfx format. Remember the export pw for later. I used a recently renewed 3 year wildcard cert for our domain. I used this one for Exchange CRM, now JIRA because reasons. Copy pfx file to a place on linux server, i made a folder called /certificates copy pfx over existing pfx file in /etc/pki/CA/certs/domain.com/domain.com.pfx Open server.xml file located in
      /jiraapplicationfolder/jira/conf/server.xml
Find the blob of text that begins "To run JIRA via HTTPS:" blahblah, a bit farther down <Connector port="yourhttpsport" protocol="org.apa...

Find the following parameters, change to correct values in server.xml.
      keystoreFile="path/to/pfx"
      keystorePass="exported private key pw"
Restart tomcat, or the whole server if you want.
      Your cert is now updated.

Made no configuration changes to the firewall tonight. Shutdown FreePBX VM, made a new one, and stuff seems to be working as it should. I'll do a few more tests tomorrow to make sure all is well.

Edit: I lied. I made a new DHCP reservation for my new FreePBX server.

@ccwtech said in Ping... Is a 2 or 4 ms return on ethernet significant?:

That's their main switch. No other switches to bypass.

The point was ping something besides the server.

The server has all kinds of reason to provide bad responses.

If nothing else pings with odd response times, it means it is the server.

Now it may be that they had money to flaunt that they could burn in the past, burnt it all, and are now living with the consequences of throwing that money away. But that's a little different. They still felt that throwing money away was worth it at the time. Today, sure, maybe they've run out of money, or many they just say that to justify decisions, but at the last time that they were making IT spending decisions....
