I'd agree with you, at least for now. This is just one small step in the right direction. It won't really make much difference until it's supported by all endpoints.

Searched the interwebs and, it appears, that Nextcloud's idea of a "preview" is, in fact, a thumbnail. Only PDF files will actually display a true "preview" when using the built-in PDF viewer app.

I had to deal with one that couldn't use its docking station correctly after the 1803 install. Had to be removed from the dock to be powered on and the monitors stopped working.

I don't think allocate more RAM is going to make a difference.

If you can't change the software on the server, your only option is to speed up the client.
Either you need to replace the hardware or use other software.

Start by trying using some other browser. They might be more suitable to your application.

Unless you have some stupid weird use case, you order a basic system from Dell or HP that fits your needs and you walk away done.

Did you install THIS inside of your Windows VM?

I changed my 'Display' setting from Spice to VNC, that gave me 2 mouse cursors. Then I added a Tablet, that got rid of the extra cursor and everything now seems to work OK.

No, I wouldn't have been able to install anything into the VM before the changes mentioned above as the mouse was unusable.

I'll do it now and see what happens.

I also built a VM using Boxes. That was going OK, but now I've lost video all together.

I don't like or ever use boxes.

I tried it once. It was not very elegant. Using KVM was far superior. No idea why Boxes is even being promoted, it seems like a hokey solution to a problem that no one has.

Boxes suppose to be user-friendly for those use to using those type 2 hypervisor UI.

I don't think it is, though. KVM already makes it "feel" like a traditional type 2, Boxes only takes away from that experience.

I was more confused using Boxes UI compared to Virtual Machine Manager.

Oh yeah, I tried it and could not figure out what was going on.

Yes, it's still widely deployed. But freaking ancient.

You can restart the Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service or the Windows Remote Management service and it should work.

Virtualized would be the same as physical. Basically, there is rarely a reason to separate them no matter what. In special circumstances, yes, but generally, no.

Nothing wrong with it when needed, but it doesn't need to perform well for its role.

Yeah, but OpenVas is a resource pig, and the reporting isnt very good when you are reporting against thousands of systems, and you need to break them up into smaller groups. Also it isnt ideal for enterprise as permissions are a nightmare when you only want certain people to see certain assets.

It is actually much more expensive for a large company to try to use OpenVas

I'm not using it for thousands of systems at once, and permissions are not an issue. At most a scan is against a hundred or two devices at once. Maybe that's why I haven't noticed any slow or clunkyness.

But for in the future, I am curious of what to use that compares to OpenVAS, but is better with speed and permissions?

@black3dynamite I used the old one, and it worked. I succesfully installed xo now. Normally, I'd like to know what went wrong, but it's too late and friday 🙂

Latest update, Altex in Reghin has some lower end Chromebooks. Not exactly what we want, but might do the trick.

@black3dynamite That forces a change at logon, but does not immediately expire the exisiting password.

But, if I was in a position to need to do this, I would set that flag and then force logoff the system anyway.

Because even if you expire the password, Windows does not care about the already logged in session.

Yes that is directly related and exactly what needs to be done.

I mentioned in my post that it's the two middle ones in the screen shot that are missing, H264, that are installed with ffmpeg-libs.

Or do you mean on a KVM-only host? (gui-less)
