We do Kickstart installs. It's pretty easy.

Kickstart with some form of change management tool (ansible?) Would probably be the best bet.

Yeah that's what we do. Ansible builds the kickstart configs and PXE boot files from a YAML dictionary that defines all of the systems.

I was trying to understand how to read that report I posted from your site. I can't figure it out.

I honestly haven't dug into it yet, but it also doesn't look like it's worth the time either.

Tried it today in Windows enviroment for both server and client, and while it is easy to setup it took forever for 1 image BU to complete. not sure why was not limited in CPU or RAM, and after 45 mins I stopped it and didnt care about it anymore, the client was fresh windows with 14 GB on C :

      Hi,

I liked how you moved past the OS distro and focused on the apps. Cause that will result is waste of time.

I second Thunderbird especially with outlook accounts.

Check Wine, maybe it can help you with MS Publisher

Because Microsoft has no way to clean up these certs and they are likely for self-signing software that Windows runs and "needs a cert for".

@obsolesce Right, I am having to add a group of computers to the printers' security permissions with allow printing enabled to get the GPP to actually deploy the printer to the user.

UNC pathing to the printer by a member of the PrintersChecksUsers (while the user is logged in) allows them to install and print to the printer.

The GPO shows as applied in the RSOP, but with item level targeting, I don't see any info on why it wasn't actually installed/applied. Maybe it shows it somewhere else.

The key is the shared printer's security tab on the print server, itself. That is where I have to allow the specific group of computers, as well as the specific group of users. I need both, the computers and users groups to have at least printing allowed.

Reading the Veeam Backup Free Edition it appears it installs the console on windows Server or Windows Desktop. Does that sound right? I installed Altaro on the Hyper-V host itself. I don't know which setup would be better though. Comments appreciated.

      Yes, it goes on Windows.

g raid...Or just bunch all the disks together and create seperate partitions for the c drive and then the d drive - is that still go

with an office that small - I ask - do you even need a server? Do you need local storage at all? can you go all cloud based? or just use a local NAS for storage and cloud for the rest?

      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/develop/reference/core/clients/manage/sms_r_system-server-wmi-class

And I see many of the attributes I can include in a query there. So when a query is run, this class is generated, which populates itself with the relevant data from the database, then the query selects the necessary data from this on-the-fly generated class. Does that seem right?
