i've been setting up ipads that have been in use, to become supervised using apple configurator 2. The erase stage is part of making the ipad supervised.

Had to do this so I could enroll them in apple school manager.

@JaredBusch thanks for clarifying the point, that this policy is under the security settings. The app is moot to the policy being there or not if one exists at all.

To clarify further, there were no MDM policies set under Device Admin outside of what O365 already applies. I did remove that but that caused it to log out of the account/remove it and when I reconnected things, the problem went away as I anticipated. Still was curious as to why it was happening though. My best guess is what I previously mentioned about him connecting to an open hotspot and it causing the issue.

Well,.. very long obtuse story cut short. having re-installed Ubuntu a time or two due to software / boot issues, I hadn't upgraded to 'save time and stress.' I felt not push to upgrade to 18.10 if I had to yet again kill and install the system. However, things appear stable - so upgrading currently.

I do see on the article, that the crashes could be past - and as such, i can delete the files (several days old) and move on.

Long file names can be a serious pain... for copy and backup reasons.

I recall a NTG client that used a long name for the directories,.. and it made updating nearly impossible Should follow the KISS method... Directory names don't need to be 120 characters long,.. and four deep.

@scottalanmiller Try with another separator instead of dash, just to make check if it's the dash or something else. Maybe just remove it altogether.

I want to screen to blank, which is what causes the screen to go into power saving mode. Not just setting it to a black color.

Blanking is tech speak for when the graphics adapter would turn of either one or both of the horizontal and vertical sync signals and thereby communicate to the display that the screen is not in use and it can go into one of it's power saving modes.

Lock windows computer =>> screen goes into power save mode right away.
Computer don't go into sleep until it does so by it's normal settings.

I just had discovered on a recent audit a Barracuda Backup device, but I was able to get the account login for the cloud and local account. I used the email of the previous IT person and the administrator password.

If you don't know the account or password at this point is better to reset and start over or contact Barracuda Technical Support...
