Maybe that is a little simplistic for my neophyte VBA mind...

The simpler you can make it, the better off everybody will be, lol.

I still have a lot to learn, no time to learn it and still be Mr. Jack of All Trades SOLO IT Guy...I've literally poked at this code all week in between day to day and not a lot to show but perhaps closer to the solution.

Hopefully you'll get it! Keep poking at it... just don't miss and accidentally poke the bear with a stick!

They can come to your door with lawyers if they actually think youre 'stealing' imaginary property. But they need permission from a court to do so. And you dont have to do anything for them, at all, ever, without this order. At least in the US that is.

Actually they already have permission when you agree to the EULAs.

That's what gets you. Run any of their products and you've already agreed to bypassing the court needs. Only time that the court is required is if you are not running any BSA covered products - and basically everyone is.

I was looking at it more. It would seem he (my alum) works with\for Microsoft. I wasn't sure which part of the team he was on. I was just looking at placing a Kali build in a cloud instance then I saw this.

Vultr would work too, and be cheaper.

I'm don't use Azure or Vultr(tho I did take look at the latter the other day). I have systems running with profit bricks. I'm working on migrating more of my servers to Linux based systems.

Test out Vultr, it's cheap and good.
Thank you. I will take a deeper dive, I looked from the surface.

So... I went through and ran the script and it seems to have worked fine... What next?

Edit: To collect logs from the local server, I also had to install filebeat on this server. So I reckon I can now go and install it on all my other systems as well.

Yes, install Filebeat and point it to ELK. Check my Filebeat article for more info.

Didn't realize you had one. 8-) But I'm good now. Logs are collecting as we speak. Bonus: Fail2Ban and Apache logs also work great in ELK.

Paging @KOOLER Will the performance of the appliances be as good or better than the native windows install?

It must be at least as good, why release an inferior product.

Nissan has GT-R cracking 0-100 in sub 3 seconds but it doesn't mean Nissan Altima doing same 0-100 in low 10s suck 😉 Every product has own target niche.

A vendor submit us a "fat" solution based on this hardware and controlled by Polyedro software (from TeamSystem, I don't know if it exist outside Italy), but I think that this is just over-engineering… for 7k€!

Yes if you installed gnome, it probably installed gnome-boxes which is an application to manage vms so that's why it installed libvirt.

After some further testing I am beginning to think that the problem didn't have anything to do with the vnic's, though.

Yeah, probably nothing to do with the outage, hope you find the true problem.

I second the BCC950. We also use the Logitech c930e for a large conference room to give an overview given the wide angle nature of the image.

    looks like it's fixed now.

    I was completely overloaded today.

Reading that article, I would have been fine since I had my desktop with iTunes available anyway.

    Thanks guys,

I'll let this sync the files then I'll will start looking into Cron jobs in the meantime

    Thanks all!

Rsync is pretty awesome. Handles its own connections, its own security, does its own delta compresion.

Common CDN that you might look at for this kind of thing is Amazon S3, Rackspace Cloudfiles, Backblaze B2, etc.

My boss said he wants all those projects done at the same time. hmmmmm

Your available time: 40h / week
    Project 1 requires 100% time
    Project 2..require 50-100% each
    Time left: -60 to -120h / week

Easy equation, even C-level should get that. Maybe ask them for 300%+ salary?

Even salary bumps can't give you more time, you still need time to sleep and eat etc.

I did that once during dotcom, but I also got that increased salary. Had a toothbrush, clothes and a bed couch in my office 😉

We did it at NTG, company paid for apartments, on campus housing, drivers to take us between offices, etc.

I understand your goal and the idea isn't bad, it's just not possible. Now, what IS possible, if you really want to do this and are set up as I imagine you are from the description (that is, assuming that this is a data-only array and not the OS... so we assume that the OS is always still intact...)

Have a WARM spare (no such thing as a HOT spare with RAID 0, it just is nonsensical, it's a meaningless term to use in that case.) This will sit idly by. Have a monitoring script that looks for an array failure. Have the script talk to the Smart Array utility and disengage the dead drive. Have the script talk to the utility and add in the WARM spare to a new array group. Have the script built a new RAID 0 array. Have the script unmount the old array and remove any legacy bits of it. Detect the new array. LVM the new array. Format the new array. Mount the new array. Signal to the node that it is ready to proceed.

So I think that this does what you want, but it is not a HOT spare and it is not the RAID controller doing the work, it is your own script. So your end result can be done, just not using the exact tool and location of tool that you were imagining. But having a spare on board and rebuilding the system is possible.

But most likely there will be a better way to skin this cat. But I can see a potential use case for this.

Office 365 has some fairly good builtin filters. I still had to add some domains manually, and filter out using keywords.
Once we ditch o365 and went back to full in-house exchange, you can really fine tune this stuff to keep out most of it. Turn your reject on SCL to 5 or maybe lower then whitelist servers you get legit email from. Add many text pattern filters to remove the worthless contract staffing and industry list emails. Also add an attachment filter to stop lots of types of attachments from coming through. Add a SenderID reject and spf hard fails so people cant send emails purporting to be from your domain to your users.
Went from people getting dozens of spam each day(most users) to maybe 2 messages a day for a handful of people. Once you start this campaign of aggression, it helps to have a quarantine mailbox where mails can be sent if youre not sure they are spam or not. You can then release them if they are not spam, or delte them if they are.
