For XS export speed: YMMV. I don't have major issues on my side, but some people (let's say 10/15%) had problems.

I suppose it's more related to a hardware problem.

I see improvements yes, but at the margin, I'm often saturating my GB link.

Yeah. I guess I can just do this for now.

    yum update --exclude=tzdata*

And I suppose it's safe to assume it'll be fixed soon.

Yup, they might have it fixed any day for all you know.

I think I'm in the twilight zone today, found a 750GB USB drive that's showing up as 5.5TB. Maybe I should've just taken a vacation day today.

Or... learn to work in UTC like the rest of us 😉

Or build your own Graylog server and it doesn't have this issue.

Is there any specific reason for using UTC?

Because it never has a daylight saving problem, it's standard and universal, every system uses it identically, and it is the only option that doesn't play favourites with a region.

So......you just add (say 5, for NY) to everything you see?

Or just work in UTC. In modern international business you always have to adjust the time. Nothing is easier than using UTC which is stable, as a base.

How do you get everyone to play along? Server support? Desktop support? Etc..

You make it a company policy. Times are in UTC. It's pretty easy, you can set desktops through GP or similar. Set servers to UTC. Works like magic. Some people might adjust their own stuff, but if they miss things it's purely a failure on their part that they have no excuse for. In fact, the excuse might be worse than missing things (intentionally breaking policy to not know when to show up.)

Wait, wait...so you expect all your users to also adapt to UTC?

Easier than have them not be able to figure out timezones. It's LESS adaptation, rather than more.

I didn't know SW did their own hosted solution.

    That's news to me.

I wondered why they had such a large number of servers for the amount of people they had in the HQ when I did the tour before last years SpiceWorld.

Right. It has nothing to do with data mining on user accounts...

hahahah... I hope you don't believe that...

Even my sarcasm filter caught that one 😉

Is it free with Ads? I don't see anything about pricing.

Netflix should have created channels like this years ago using content they already have paid to use. There is no reason there shouldn't be comedy tv, comedy movie channel, and etc that runs 24/7. They have enough content to create channels to do this.

I didn't see any pricing either.. I see / hear enough ads. don't want any more.

I'll be testing this from a windows machine inside a browser, so ads will get the opportunity to eat several dicks as they are being blocked. I'll try to remember to post my findings later, as I am about to head home for the day.

    So what did you think?

It runs as an app in Windows... and it's crappy. I tried to watch MST3K for about a half hour, and the audio was slightly out of sync, the streaming quality was terrible, and when it "went to commercial", it just showed a black screen w/ some text at the bottom - something like "we'll return you to your program after these sponsor announcements". Then the stream got stuck, all the controls froze, so I killed it tin task manager and watched some Netflix instead. 2/10, would not recommend.

So not even worth free, huh?

Not really. If the app was more stable and/or usable, then maybe as a supplement to other streaming services. I did like the fact that there is no signup, just download and go.

I may give it a go if there's a Roku app for it.

There is. I may try it on my Amazon fire stick, because it will hopefully be easier to scroll the channel menu with a remote. That was kinda clunky on PC.

Wow - this is a very heady project. I'm slightly envious of your getting to work on it, but mostly not because of my complete lack of experience or knowledge in the space.

You have some pretty high end demands/requirements. Just making copies of the SQL DB at the branches available at HQ regardless of branch status is not a simple task. Now you've just tossed on the fact that you need to rely on legacy hardware (Analog phone cards) and maintain - is it HA or FT or both?

@Dashrender you'd download the recovery iso that they provide and point it to the backup you have.

This would pull in all of the files etc from the backup and restore it.

    Initially ran like it shows:

    sudo curl...
    and had several permission errors...
(probably would have done better had I read the entire thing!!)

    found doing this works
    sudo bash
    enter pass
creates a bash @ root no sudo needed now runs
    curl.... |bash

now things installing properly & running properly

going back to original and seeing if it will work if I update correctly...

So this looks like an MD array, is this running on XenServer?

It is. Hopefully I won't have any oddness formatting these as ext3 when that completes.

I was going to ask the same question that @thwr asked, along with what is the hardware set?

WD RED and Seagate NAS drives for the RAID 10, whatever 1TB drives happened to be lying around for the two RAID1 sets. (I prefer HGST drives when buying drives today.)

    ext3, because XenServer

Apparently, XenServer is one of those "we don't get storage" vendors.

    I thought we found it's 16 TB

Ah, I was thinking of file size.

I think the max file size is 2TB maybe?

Which might also explain things since the VHD can't be larger than 2GB.

Yes, 16TB FS and 2TB file.

While in NY for MangoCon 2016, I picked up a HP DL385 G5 from the NTG Inventory.

As it turns out,.. it would seem that this is the unit with a failed MOBO.

Is it worth $100 (plus S&H) to replace?

    DL385 G5

Dual PSU Dual CPU Two 73GB 15.1k drives Two 146GB 10k drives

    I got a DL380 G6 with 24 GB RAM for $200 off of Amazon. I'd say no.

That's why we didn't get it fixed.

The local copy always stays local until you delete it, or a sync from another location deletes it.

Right. If you delete the local copy, it gets deleted from the NC server as well. So the next time the other clients sync up, it will get removed from them as well.
